Thriving This Summer: How One Family Stays Active, Connected, and Well-Adjusted

Summer can either feel like a season of thriving or a season of simply trying to survive the chaos. Between sports schedules, family activities, vacations, and everyday responsibilities, many families find themselves stretched thin. When asked what activities their family enjoys together, the answer was simple: pretty much everything. From baseball, football, soccer, basketball, softball, and golf to just about any outdoor activity they can find, staying active is a central part of their family culture.For them, movement is about much more than sports.

"You lose muscle mass and strength when you're sitting at home all day," they shared. "Keeping our bodies strong and healthy is important. Physical health plays a huge role in mental health, too. When one starts going downhill, the other often follows."

With a packed schedule full of practices, games, and family commitments, staying organized is essential. Their secret? A very detailed calendar.

Every appointment—from chiropractic visits and physicals to mental health appointments—is scheduled and prioritized before summer activities are added.

"We make sure we don't overbook ourselves," they explained. "Everything is written down and organized. We know what we're doing each day, whether it's baseball, softball, soccer, or something else."

One commitment that never gets pushed aside is chiropractic care.

"We always make it a point to make our appointments," they said. "We can definitely tell when we've missed an adjustment, especially with our active lifestyle."

For this family, chiropractic care plays a significant role in helping them continue doing the things they love.

"Without chiropractic care, I wouldn't really be able to walk comfortably, let alone coach soccer," one parent shared. "Before starting care, I was struggling physically. Regular adjustments have helped maintain my body and improve how I function. I honestly wouldn't be able to enjoy coaching and participating in activities the way I do now."

The benefits haven't stopped there. Sleep was one of the biggest concerns when their son Tanner first began care. He was waking up two, three, and sometimes four times every night. Since beginning chiropractic care, his sleep has improved dramatically.

"He's been sleeping through the night ever since," they said.

They've also noticed improvements in their own energy, recovery, and overall wellness.

"As busy as Tanner is, regular chiropractic care helps me keep up with him," they laughed. "My recovery has improved throughout my body, especially with my SI joint and sciatic nerve pain. Overall, our family's wellness has been greatly impacted."

Like many families, they face their share of stress. Between parenting, work, sports, and life's unexpected challenges, there is always something demanding attention.

"We all experience stress," they said. "Life has been especially stressful over the last few years. We've learned that having a healthy body helps support a healthy mind."

Along with chiropractic care, their family prioritizes mental health support, therapy, exercise, and healthy habits that help everyone better manage life's challenges.

As for what they're most excited about this summer?

"All the sports!" they said. "We have Soccer Fest coming up this weekend, and we love being able to stay busy and participate in everything."

"There are so many great local resources out there," they shared. "Facebook groups, community organizations, camps, and activities can help you discover opportunities you may not have known about. Other families often have the best tips and recommendations."
