Don’t Sleep On This!

Ahhh, sleep. Most of us love it, we all need it, but for many of us it can be hard to come by. Whether it is a personal issue or a sweet someone that is keeping you from getting that lovely rest, we would love to come alongside you and help you discover the sleep you didn’t know you were missing.

Lack of sleep can come in all forms and look different for everyone. In a lot of cases it can feel really complex leaving people with little to no answers. Lack of answers is often associated with little hope in finding solutions. In our office we have worked with babies who sleep an hour at a time, toddlers and night terrors, teens and stress and adults with sleep apnea. The beautiful thing about chiropractic care is we don’t always have to pinpoint the reason you aren’t sleeping, we just have pinpoint the dysregulation in your body and correct that. By getting the body back on track and doing what it was designed to do, we have seen sleep patterns improve drastically.

Lack of sleep doesn’t typically just affect the one struggling to find rest. A tired baby often times leads to more crying, which can be challenging to parents who are trying to figure out how to be helpful while trying to find a little shut eye themselves. A wakeful toddler crawling into mom and dads bed usually creates a restless nights sleep for everyone. An exhausted mom can find it difficult to find patience with her kiddos while trying to complete the endless tasks of the day. And a worn out dad usually comes home exhausted with nothing left to give to his family. This cycle of not sleeping has its immediate impact but we often overlook the long term effects of not sleeping.

Not only does lack of sleep make our day to day more difficult, but it can have a greater impact on our long term health. Studies have shown that poor sleeping habits can impact our mental health leading to higher rates of depression and anxiety, it can lower our cognitive function, and have damaging effects on our heart and circulatory health. Individuals who lack sleep are more susceptible to developing high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I think it is safe to say that the benefits of sleep go far beyond a cozy bed and turning off our responsibilities for the night.

Don’t suffer through another difficult night of sleep. Whether it’s a personal struggle to wind down and find a restful night sleep or a certain someone making sleep impossible to come by, we would love to help support you through that. For something that seems small and insignificant, it can have a huge impact on our health and our wellbeing. Our doctors have had the privilege to celebrate some pretty amazing stories of sleep in our office. From celebrating the new mom who went from getting an hour of sleep at a time to a five hour stretch, to the ex-military gentleman who went from sleeping 3-4 hours a night to getting 7 hours of restful sleep and the countless individuals who have been able to move from sleeping in a chair due to pain and discomfort now back to sleeping peacefully in their beds. If your household is searching for sleep, we would love to help you find that well deserved rest you have been longing for.
